Our School

Education is an atmosphere,  a discipline,  a life.

If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten (Rudyard Kipling).

Why homeschool? Life is too short and time with my kids is the most important thing to me. Every day is an opportunity to learn something...and just be together.

About Whippoorwill Christian Academy

  • We began our homeschool journey January 2008 when I pulled Trista out of kindergarten. It has been 4 years!
  • We are little bit Classical,  Charlotte Mason, and Eclectic
  • Why Whippoorwill? The whippoorwill has always been one of my favorite birds. I have very fond memories of camping with my family as a child and hearing the whippoorwill song.

EDUCA'TION, n. [L. educatio.] The bringing up, as of a child, instruction; formation of manners. Education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, arts and science, is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties. --1828 edition of Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language

"Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism, and every American school is a school of humanism. What can a theistic Sunday school's meeting for an hour once a week and teaching only a fraction of the children do to stem the tide of the five-day program of humanistic teaching?" — C.F. Potter, signer of Humanist Manifesto 1930

"Open war is upon you whether you will risk it or not!" — Aragorn, "Return of the King"
